ARTISTS STATEMENT
I work primarily in paint and print. Sometimes i use photography or textiles in the exploration of a theme.
I love the materiality of paint and the process of painting.
Experimentation has always been important to me in paint or whatever medium i use.
I have always loved colour, I study it but at the end of the day, I use it intuitively.
Nature is always an inspiration, I also use it to explore themes that fascinate me such as memory and dreams. The imagination and subconscious is very important to me. Often in my work there is a psychological aspect which can be autobiographical.
Initially my love of art began with drawing, particularily with charcoal and pencil. My style has an immediacy that suits this. In fact some of my work has a graphic quality, so i like to make prints a few times a year and some of these appear in my exhibitions. I have explored most printing techniques and I love all the processes in creating a print and the element of chance involved.
